Should anorexic models be banned from the runway?!

I think that is easier said than done. In order to get "proof" that someone is anorexic you'd need a medical opinion and examination. How many people would do that? Plus some of those women just might be extremely skinny based on their genetic makeup or metabolism. It's going to be really hard to say who has an eating disorder and who doesn't.

Runway models are thin. That's they way it's been since Twiggy in the 60's and that's the way it is now. For whatever reason designers want to use really skinny girls. I think it makes it easier for them when they design and create the outfits because they don't have to account for the curves that you find on a real woman.

Take the clothes made by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. Do you think a size 12 or size 14 woman is going to be able to wear them? He designed the clothes he wanted to design, but they were definitely for the size 0 models. Plus he makes a comment to his models during their fittings to not eat so they stay skinny.

Fortunately or not, this is a standard of beauty that we hold up in our society. I think more designers and models need to speak out about the fact that all women are beautiful and you don't need to be super skinny to still be attractive.

anorexia inevitable in modeling.

many models starve themselves to look skinny and 'beautiful'

And without the anorexic ones, you have few models.

yes

i think so because ppl that are skinny like that are giving the wrong impressions to girls like u have to be skinny to be pretty and i know that guys droll over that kind of stuff so the girls think if they r not skinny like that no guys will ever want her bad impressions if u are skinny ity should be that u eat right and exercise and by eating right i mean by eating not, not eating at all

Absolutely. I think models should be a size 7 or above. The more realistic size gives a better idea on how clothes will look on real people. I would never buy runway clothing...I wouldn't look the same in the outfit worn by a size 0.

sure if you want empty runways and want to put an end to fashion shows...eating disorders in general run rampant in the modeling industry. I'd say a good 95% of women are not built to carry such small amounts of weight on tiny little frames at 5'9" or taller...

Yeh. They are nasty. I like models to have something to look at. Not just transparent skin.

I can't see how they can be banned, but out of moral obligation, the designers shouldn't hire them . In addition, we consumers shouldn't buy clothes made by designers who hire these sickly girls.

Any model found to have any disorder with food or her body image should be treated by a professional before being allowed to work. This causes unhealthy images to be seen by young girls who starve themselves wanting to be super thin.

yess i mean eww. thats really unhealthy and it makes them look so ugly they should definatly be banned.
