Sonny isn't thinking clearing lately. He has been so consumed with the safety of Kate. He didn't see the signs that his son was trying to buy a gun from two thugs on the water front pier. Now - sonny is going ballistic trying to find Michael. He thinks that Trevor and johnny have Michael which they don't. So now - he is so worried about Michael and he is letting his frustration cloud his thinking. He is not thinking clearly. Plus jason told him the theory he had in today's episode. About how he found gun oil on Michael's back pack. And jason also told sonny that Michael might have been the one who shot Kate. But - you know sonny. He can be very pig headed. Is right.

Sonny is acting like his usual self: a nut, essentially. He burst into the Zaccaras' mansion; and at gunpoint gave an ultimatum to all there, including Trevor, staying that if he did not get what he wanted: meaning Michael back, then there would be blood (meaning JOHNNY, held captive by him, would be killed). Sonny rejected once again Claudia's offer of aid in finding Michael, distrusting her; and Sonny, upon entering Kate's hospital room, found Kate gone for unknown reasons; and reacted wistfully.
He's taken to harrassing teenage boys because his one true love, Jason, is otherwise occupied.
