American Idol...David Archuleta?!
Question: We all know that every Idol to ever win that show has had off nights. Even the likes of Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Daughtry, and Kelly Clarkson have had off nights. But what David A. did last night was beyond having an off night. That was awful. So why was Kristy's performance "horrendous" but David's was just a "mess" according to Simon? Could it be that David is being pimped to the moon?
I did not like Kristy's performance and I am not a fan of hers but she didn't forget half of the lyrics and at least she tried to change up the song (even though it did not work at all). My second question is if you are a David fan and this was his very first performance, would you have voted for him after that? Be honest.

If that was the first time I heard him, I would have NOT voted for him...you're right everyone has off days...but to forget lyrics...remember how they pounded that into their heads in the try outs? well...here's proof positive that nerves overtake their emotions..I didn't vote for David A because he forgot his words...and that's a shame because I think he has a great voice...fair is fair...and popularity doesn't cut it this time

Kristy did do horrible last night becuase she took a risk and it just didn't work!!!!
Well it wasn't even David's fault that he did bad, Simon told him last week to do fun songs and to stop singingsad songs, so David tried to do a fun song and it didn't work!!
I bet that you can't sing as well as David!!!
I'm not a David fan, and I wouldn't have voted for him. Messing up the Beetle's lyrics was just... not good. At all. If your going to do American Idol, you should at least know some of their songs. He said he wasn't familiar with any of them, which is kind of sad, because they were really popular. I'm fifteen and knew at least half of what was sung last night. I don't think most people pay attention to the actual singing in this competiton, unfortunately. All the teenage girls probably just think he's cute. Personally, I liked Danny. Lot's of people didn't like him for his attitude, or his being gay, or whatever, but honestly I thought he was one of the best singers, and found him funny.
Simon said after the show about David A.:

No... I wouldn't. Well what most people don't get that if you in a position that you are on national television in the top 12 on American Idol, you shouldn't make mistakes. I don't know if David made a quick song change or not but, to make a mistake like not KNOWING the words is kind of... well... stupid. I think that he has built up a strong fan base that it doesn't matter, but if that would of happened at an audition he wouldn't be in the game.

Have you heard David Archuletta's rendition of "Imagine"? FFS. It's phenomenal! Really. If only he knew American Idol would have a night specifically for John Lennon/Paul McCartney songs....he would have saved that song for last night and sang something else the other night....DHO!
Anyone who has been following the show should know that David can sing and should be in the top 4 at least.
I probably would have. I mean it was the opening night of the top 12, I can't blame him for being nervous. I think Kristy might be going home.
I love david and I think I would vote for him cuz his voice rocks but I understand him forgetting the lyrics he is younger then everyone and most likely doesn't know any songs that he could pick from.

You are trying to say that a performance being a "mess" is worse than being called "horrendous". I guess it just depends on your point of view.
Archuleta is one of my faves on the show, ( I also like David Cook and Carly Smithson). I was SHOCKED that he messed up so bad. I voted for Carly last nite. I would be surprised if David A was eliminated.....but if he is, there is a good reason why.
If he would have messed up like that in Hollywood, he would have never made it to the next level.
Honestly, I am a David fan (A HUGE ONE) but I agree with you. If this was the first time I had ever saw David, yes I wouldn't have voted for him. His performance was a mess and possibly the worst performance of the night, next to Kristy.
But the thing is, his past performances (mainly Imagine) were better than all the other contestants best performances combined. I agree that last night was...well terrible, but in the past he has proved that he is an absolutely amazing singer. Most people take that into consideration, as well as his looks, personality, etc. This is a singing competition, and based on last night's singing he is probably in the bottom 3. But looking at all his other performances, which were miles better, I think that he deserves a second chance. Everyone in American knows that he is much better than he was last night, and so I think he should have a second chance.
i am still DAVID FAN NO MATTER WHAT
First off, Kristy's was horrendous because
A. She's not that good of a singer
B. She took a classic song and ripped it to shreds
C. Has absolutely no stage presence whatsoever
This was not her first "off" night either. Last week she did a horrible cover of Journey's "Faithfully". That is one of my favorite songs by them and she hacked it to death. She cannot sing...case closed. Just because she is country does not mean she should be twanging every damn song she sings. It does not do the songs justice and makes her look like a hack. She should be gone.
As for David Archuleta...he, on the other hand...CAN sing. He has a beautiful voice, far better than Kristy's ever will be. I don't believe he is being "pimped to the moon" as you put it, but let's be honest here. There are contestants that both America as well as the judges, like immediately. He happens to be one of them, so when he does not live up to their expectations, naturally, he is a "mess".
Now, if you're going to ask that question about David and his first performance, make sure you ask it of Kristy as well. Because if it was HER first performance, I'd make sure she never even got thru her audition. Even the best of singers forget the lyrics at times. To be a hack is a completely different story, and if you can't see (or rather HEAR) the difference, then you need to get your ears examined.
im a david A. fan. but he did mess up and i prob wouldnt've voted for him. i was a HUGE asia'h fan, but she got eliminated. i was and still am shocked. i voted for david cook now.
david A has such a strong fanbase that hes gonna have to screw up atleast 5 times to have any affect on it.
