Was David Archuleta's performance really as bad as I thought it was?!

Question: I'm not a fan of his, but I do admire his stage presence and his runaway success so far.

He seemed drunk on stage tonight, and when the judges tore into him the audience didn't even boo... like they knew it was bad.

Was it that bad?

David is a great vocalist and also seems nice and hard working. But he's got some weaknesses he needs to grow past.

He needs to learn stage nerves are a demon best embraced and made into an old friend. You let yourself be nervous and channel the energy. When you try to hide them in the closet with sheer will they have a tendency to burst out when your guard is down, just like tonight.

His other weakness is hes not shown growth and hasn't confidently pushed into new territory. Half of Idol is initial talent the other half is showing you can grow dramatically over 12 weeks. He started way stronger than everyone else, but now others have caught up with new found skills and confidence.

ugg i think ur drunk

ya he forgot some of the words but i think he did pretty well considering he has like never heard or sung that type of music

It was a mess. I normally love him...he is VERY talented, but he forgot his words and didn't connect with the song at all. I hope he show up to his old self next week.

Well he is 17 and I am pretty sure he wasnt drunk! His performance was not only bad, but he forgot the lyrics a few times. I have a feeling he will be alright tomorrow though. He is very popular.

r u kidding me??? ur not a fan???? i haven't heard him yet cuz im on the west coast, but he has a SPECTACULAR voice. ur insane

Yes. It was. He won't get voted off but it was bad.

i was BADDDDDDDDDDD

to the bone

yeah, it kinda was. He admitted himself that he wasn't really familiar with The Beatles' music (he is only 17,though,so he should be cut a little slack) and he only knew the Stevie Wonder cover, but his voice isn't big or mature enough to do Stevie. Plus, he seemed a little nervous and forgot some lyrics. The kid had a bad night, but it happens to the best of them. I don't think he really has anything to worry about, though, because has a lot of fans. Plus, even taking all of that into consideration, he was still better than David H and Kristy Lee. What was up with them tonight? I wish we could trade them in to get Danny and Asia'h back. But, anyway, yeah, David A had a bad night, but I'm sure he'll be back on his game next week.

He wasn't bad but he for sure wasn't as good as he has been.

Yes it was quite bad, but he won't go home although he was definetly in the bottom 3 performances tonight. Melissa and Brandon forgot lyrics and didn't get a second chance. Being young is no excuse Diana was 16 and Jordin (who was amazing with Shirely Bassey's "I Who Have Nothing"). Maybe he should go, it might be good for him if he's stressed as it will only get harder with Mariah Week.
