Why are people over the moon about David Archuleta?!
Question: I am not saying he is a bad singer but he always sounds like he is gasping for air. Would he pass out if he had to sing an entire song? Also, what is with all the lip licking? I counted during one of his performances and he did that about 13 times. Weird!

because they don't notice his lip-licking!! I don't usually vote, but I think I should start so he leaves the show and I don't have to look at him lick any more. He also has a tongue thrust problem that keeps his tongue near his bottom front teeth; also annoying to look at.
He is popular with the young girls. He is the Davy Jones of the 60s, the Sanjaya Malanchar of today. Not going to make it to the end, I am afraid.
He's got that "aw, shucks" kinda charm- & he's sincere! he has a great voice! (but my personal fave is still David Cook! :)

I agree; people are getting way too obsessed with him. He is a very talented guy, with natural talent, and he's adorable. That's obviously why people love him. The reason his voice may seem scratchy at times, or if he's gasping for air, is probably because he has one paralyzed vocal chord. People love his determination and can't wait to see him perform. Just the fact that this 17-year-old can go about big songs and totally nail them is a huge deal to American Idol Fans and viewers of the show. I am not going to jump on the bandwagon with everyone else and become crazy obsessed, but he is still one to beat in this competition and I believe that right now he could downright win it all. My personal favorites are Jason Castro and David Cook, though. I hope they go far! As for the lip licking - who knows? I guess it's just a habit. I find it amusing that he always has to lick his lips...now that you've said that I'm going to count how many times he licks his lips tonight on the show. Hehe. ;)

He sounds that way because of his vocal problem a few years back. I am over the moon for him because he is just so cute!! haha he cant help but laugh eveytime someone talks to him and he is not fake, he is really nice to everyone, and to add on top of all of that he has an amazing voice. He is a really person not someone trying to act nice to earn votes I am pretty sure thats how he really is :)
Pre-teen girls. It's all because of them. Sure he's a great singer, and cute, but there are better singers in that competiotion. I guess people are just too brainwashed by listening to Brittany Spears.

His voice is raspy because he had to undergo throat surgery, but it totally doesn't sound like it when he sings. No he wouldn't pass out! Maybe he has chapped lips!
He's not my favorite but I'll admit he's the total package. He's young, good-looking, sincere and he's an amazing vocalist. I'd bet money that he will be the next American Idol.
