Lost or X-Files? Why?!

Question: EW.com currently has a showdown of 22 cult phenomena and the first thing they ask is the most intriguing one to me - which is the superior show?

To make the case for lost, they have the Island genius that will never be on the show, Doc Jensen and for X-files Ken Tucker.

They both make a great debate questioning who has the better looming baddie? Ben "Benry" Linus or the Cigarette Smoking Man, among other things.

Their poll results are currently in a dead heat Texas would be proud of.

I watched the x-files and I watch Lost. I would have to say that I am way more into Lost than I ever was with x-files. And as far as Ben Linus vs the Cigarette Smoking Man goes I would say that Ben has it hands down. Ben is much more complex, and the depth of his character has not yet been fully explored. The Cig smoking man was almost like the card board cut out bad guy.

Lost. I hate the X Files. I hate the people in it.

x-files...lost sux it's been dragging on for too long

lost.. x-files is dead

like both of them but lost is amazing never know what is going to happen next...then theres sawyer...nuff said

Lost is dragging on for too long? LMAO! Compared to the x-files which just refused to end and went on at least two to three seasons after it went bad?

At least the writers of Lost had the balls to the tell the studio that they wanted to finish their story and then end the show (it has the end in mind,in contrast to x-files which just kept dragging out the show even though it was n o longer any good)

Obviously, my answer is Lost. Though I liked the x-files quite a lot, but felt it should have ended earlier.

Lost is the better of the 2 x-files was good until they started making maulder and Sculley at stupid in the end, at least lost they stayed on task.

X-Files episodes could stand on their own. You could watch one with out having to know the maze of back story.
Lost is lost with out regular viewership. Watch one episode and it makes no sense.

Put me on the poll for X-Files.

I have to say I would choose the X-files as I have never seen lost. The X-files is not to be taken seriously it is just a good tv drama which has good actors playing fascinating characters. What I have heard about lost is that it is very confusing if you miss an episode, whereas usually each episode of the X-files is a story on its own.

The X-Files.
Lost is a boring soap opera.

The X-Files has depth, and doesn't follow stereotypes.
