Ashes to Ashes . . .?!

Question: Life on Mars was great, is Ashes to Ashes as good?

Answers: Life on Mars was great, is Ashes to Ashes as good?

No....it was a good original idea, but like any original format they have to do it to death....still like the show, but not as good as the original.

not as good as life on mars, but the best thing on tv on a thursday night

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust? What?

what the hell are you jabbering about?

...dust to dust
If it wasn't for women
Your willy would rust!

I don't think it's as good as Life on Mars. Don't really like that Alex character very much. I prefered the WPC from Life on Mars, can't remember her name though but the actress who played her was Liz White

good but not as good as life on mars .

yes it is but in a different way
i think too many people are trying to associate it with sam tyler and if you try to do that it wont work for you

No!!

It is an excellent show but nowhere near the same league as Life on Mars. The original show had an excellent cast that could act well and avoided parody through well placed post-modernism and poignant reminders of the history of the later 70s and 80s.

The current show features an excellent Gene Hunt but the female lead is not an actress whereas Simm was a sensational actor. I'm afraid that fails to deliver the required emotion for her part a lot of the time and the dull notes in the script are highlighted by her rather than hidden as they were with Simm. She makes it occasionally cringe-worthy.

That said it is a very different show, it is a full-on parody of the shows of the 80s and viewed in that way (combined with the simple fact that you get more of the excellent Gene Genie) it is brilliant... just not as good as Life on Mars.

I love it but I never watched Life On Mars cos I can't stand looking at John Simm's ratty little gob ( i appreciate I'm in a minority here!)....also I was a teen in the 80's so its right up my street.I was there with the batwing jumpers and 'beady' plastic jewellery and dodgy wet perms............

No, should have been just the men, that would have been good to watch.

The eighties isn't being as well represented as it was in 'Life On Mars', but fortunately the relationships are far better.

I think so.

Not as good, I don't think follow ups ever are, but it is still an enjoyable programme, love Gene Hunt, very non PC, just my type of man, and the music takes me right back to my youth.
Miss Sam Tyler, but then you can't have everything, still got Gene, he'll more than do.
