Lost: The Oceanic Six?!

Question: Sure, we're trying to figure out who the six are. But I don't know what the significance is. Are they the only survivors from the crash to make it back to the real world? Or is it something else? Has this been revealed?

Last Friday the producers did a podcast and they said that Jack's story of the 8 who survived the crash but 2 died was just that...a story. They said that in order for it to be believable that 6 out of 300+ survived the crash unharmed they would need to say two more people didn't make it. The podcast is at abc.com if you want to listen.

I think that 6 and Aaron (the other two being Sun and Jin) were the only people who able to leave the island and they left everyone else behind. What do Jack, Sayid, Kate, Hurley, Sun, and Jin (and Sawyer) have in common???? All of them weren't on the beach when the hatch exploded and the radiation was exposed. Kate, Jack, Hurley, and Sawyer were all with Ben and the others on the dock. Sun, Jin, and Sayid were on Desmond's boat trying to find the others (looking at 4 toed statues). I think they are the only ones who CAN leave and they do and make up a story to tell the real world.

Jack
Kate
Hurley
Sayid

These are the only one revealed so far. Remember eventhough we have seen Ben in a flash forward, he was not on the Oceanic flight therefore not part of the Oceanic Six...

Also not included in Oceanic 6 and could still survive (but not known yet):
Desmond
Juliet

Jack
Kate
Hurley
Sayid
Aaron

The Oceanic 6 *has* to refer to 6 who made it off the island: Kate, Jack, Sayid for sure. And then we're assuming Sun, Jin and Hurley because of flashforwards.

Aaron would not qualify as one of the 6 because he not a survivor, he was born on the island

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. There's gotta be something going on that we don't know about. But in the court room scene with Kate, Jack says something about there were only like 8 survivors but 2 died or whatever. There's no way they can kill off the rest of the people or something. Or maybe they all stay there...who knows. I just take comfort in knowing that there is an end in sight and everything will get answered.

I don't think that it means that they are the only six that survived. I think it means that they are the only 6 that have made it back to the real world. But I think that in the end of the series, they (all that survive the next 2 seasons anyway) will all make it back to the real world.

From what I gather the Oceanic Six (Sayid, Jack, Kate, Hurley) and two others were the only known survivors of the plane crash who made it back to civilization. My theory is that the Oceanic 6 are lying to the world and pretending that the other crash survivors died. Remember when Jack gave his testimony at the trial he said that there were only 8 survivors of the crash. For some reason Jack said 8...I'm thinking that 2 die this season and their bodies are carried back to civilization. That is why jack says 8. I think Jack and Hurley are showing major signs of guilt in the future forward episodes. They feel guilty about leaving their friends on the island. I think the series will conclude by having the Oceanic 6 go back to the island (if they can find a way) to rescue the ones they left behind.

There is more people that get off the island than the six survivors for sure. Like Aaron and Ben werent on the plane but they get off. I think that the koreans are part of the six that were on the plane. What Jack said in the courtroom was just a lie. He made it up to help out Kate it means nothing.

I have gotten the impression that maybe they're the only ones who actually left, not necessarily the only ones who made it. Remember when Jack was testifying at Kate's trial, he said that only 8 people had survived the crash. And in Hurley's deal, Charlie told him "they need you" and Jack "we have to go back!" I felt like the implication is that maybe Jack's crew stayed there and those that left are protecting them for some reason.

The "Oceanic 6" seems to be the media's name for these 6 survivors that were "found"

They are the six who get rescued. I think they have to lie to the world though. Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Sun and Jin. I think
