Have you seen the commercials!!!! They are practicly sent from hell to ruin peoples lives!
It is a direct rip off of a long-running bit on the Howard Stern Show. He brought in a professional lie detector guy named Ed Torian (sp?) with a funny voice. They would question people about silly things and then analyze their answers. A classic one was when they hooked Pam Anderson up and asked her if she ever called anyone the N word. She said no (of course) and then Ed analyzed the readout and said his classic "she's being deceptive."
No, it is for entertainment. Isn't it fun to watch?

beside the first posters CORRECT assertion, this spin-off looks staged...the inevitable sound bite on the evening network news can't be long in coming...
These people go on these shows to win money ... they chose to subject there families to that torture.... I personally would never do it if I had something to hide. But I love to watch it.. Personally I think its rigged.... They answer all these personal questions like did you have an affair and they pass but then some stupid question like did u ever stuff your pants/bra comes up and it turns out to be a lie! TOTALLY RIGGED!

It's on the Fox network. That says a lot right there. I would never go on that show. It makes it clear why some lies are ok because the truth is too painful and not something everyone needs to know. (depending upon what it is) Of course if you have level headed and intelligent people that truly understand the questions and what a normal response is, don't take it too personal. If people can handle what is human nature. (Do you think you're better or more attractive, etc.) There are trick questions that maybe people lie to themselves about without realizing they are doing it. Or in public don't feel comfortable admitting. (Do you think you are a good person?)
edit: Fox is all about creating controversy. They don't care about the contestants. They care about big money.
I think it's degrading and needs cancelled. I would rather watch uplifting shows like Extreme Makeover, Home Edition or even Deal or No Deal. I don't like to watch people be made miserable on TV...
