TV Shows and Time Zones?!

Question: I am NOT from the U.S. so PLEASE don't kill me for asking such a question. I've been wondering... When they say a TV show airs at 9/8c, that means it will air at 9.00 in the Eastern Time Zone, whereas it'll air ay 8.00 in the Central T.Z. Then, what about the other two Time Zones, Mountain and Pacific? Do people from there have to figure out the starting time by themselves, do they have completely different shows, or what else? Thx in advance ^^

Yes there Eastern Central, Mountain, and Pacific. All tv shows are set up to run in Eastern time zone and then provides Central time zone right after it. Mountain and Pacific do have to figure out their own time schedule. Pacific is 4 hours behind Eastern. All major shows are shown at same time so show at 8 in est will be at 6 in mst. Only shows that really changed are like news and like dr.phil stuff like that. Pacific does have little bit changed. But Est, cst, and mst are the same. Example Starz-east and Starz-west

All the shows are in Eastern Time because that's where the biggest markets are.

There are 2 airings of prime-time programs in the U.S., known as the "East Coast Feed" and the "West Coast Feed".

The network prime-time programs shown from 8-11 on the East Coast are seen in the Central zone from 7 to 10 pm. These programs are repeated at 8-11 pm in the Pacific zone on the West Coast feed, and these air in the Mountain time zone from 9-12, I think.

The exceptions are for live events like the Oscars, Super Bowl, and other important sporting events. These air only once - the Oscars started at 8:30 Eastern, and I believe aired live at 5:30 on the West Coast. I'm not sure what that channel then airs from 8-11 pm. Some kind of substitute programming.

A show like "Saturday Night Live" is only aired live in half of the country - 3 hours later it runs on the West Coast feed, and it could be edited at that time if someone did or said something racy.

yeah, 9, 8 central means 9 on the east coast, 8 in central time zone. Not sure about mountain time, but will also show at 9 pacific. When i had local channels from both east and west coast, both showed the same show, just 4 hours apart.
