Are the Idol contestants getting a cut of the iTunes sales?!

Question: Appearantly you can download Idol performances off of iTunes, are the contestants getting a cut of the sales, or is all just going in Simon's pocket?

Has anyone downloaded one of these tracks? Is it just the appreviated song they preformed on the show or is it a full song they pre-recorded?

I think it's just what you see/hear on the show (the abbreviated song), although I haven't checked for sure. I do know that they sing the song once on the stage to practice, as well, so if they sounded better there, they might choose that performance to go to iTunes instead of the live one.

I'm about 98% sure that the contestants don't get any cut of the sales from these iTunes songs. More likely, it goes to iTunes, Fox, the producers of American Idol (including Simon Cowell) and also to the people that own the rights to the song (usually the songwriter/composer, although sometimes other people buy the rights to songs.)

i doubt if they get a cut.
Simon probably gets richer.

i haven't downloaded any and won't.

Idk But im not going to download any of them.

I bet it just goes to American Idol, not the contestants.
I downloaded the free things that they had...they had that "We're Brothers Forever" song that was hillarious from auditions and they had a Josiah Leming video. But I haven't BOUGHT any videos.
