OLTL. Did the writers go too far?!

Question: Anyone think the writers went too far with Todds character. I can't see the old Todd (Roger Howarth) being this way. Even though Todd has always been a scoundrel, no matter what he did, somehow you couldn't help but love him and somehow understand him. Unlike Spencer and Ramsey who are scoundrels but they just seem soulless. Today was the first time I have ever truly deeply disliked the Todd character and always before I always sympathised with him and wanted him to get a little slack. This time when john punched him, I wanted him to punch him again. Who else thinks they took his character too far over to the line?

Yeah, they've been headed in this direction for a while and today was just too much. I haven't liked Todd in a long time, but now I absolutely detest him. They've really ruined the character for me this time.

way over the line. for him to be physically beating on kids. todd would protect his family but come on. they really dropped the ball on this. they need to quickly drop it and try to make him apologize or something cause that just made me dislike his character.

I do ...... I know he's suppost to be an ***, but now he is even more twisted than ever. Its making me not like watching when he is on. He is absolutely annoying.

i do think it was a little out there to have him beat up a teen ager. i mean todd is ruthless and selfish and could careless about anyone but i never would have thought of him to react like THAT. was a bit too far in my opinon.

I dont really agree with you. Todd's Character has always been out of control. I think when Roger was playing Todd the character was written alot worse than he is now. Did Todd lose it, absolutely but that is who Todd is. He has always been irrational. He was abused himself as a child that is where the whole marty-rape came from. To see his little girl in that way with a guy set him over the deep end. Not to mention he is scared to death about ramsay on his back which set the whole hawaii thing in motion.
Todd feeling threatened is Never a good outcome thats when he is at his worst!

I agree. Todd would be violent or at least angry if Roger Howarth was still portraying the character, but to inanimate objects and not another person. I think the writers have changed Todd a lot overall since the transition of actors.

Today was a bit violent that is for sure.
I can't figure why he keeps saying she was raped when they didn't even go all the way. He's not listening to anyone, not Starr, Blair or Dorian. He's surely lost his mind from all the stress with Ramsey. Maybe that's why the writers had him go so wild.

i agree to a point. i know my dad and my bro would do the same thing if they walked in on me with a guy all over me when i was starr's age. dads dont play by their daughters. all todd saw was cole having sex with starr and it was enough to push him over the edge.

that said he did beat up the other kid 1st and that was wrong. and he did go way over board cuz cole is a kid too and he wasnt forcing himself on starr. if i were those boys mother i would sue the pants off todd and try to put him in jail.

Monday's episode with Todd beating Langston's boyfriend went beyond too far. It should not have been allowed to air even if it was only acting and not real.

oh yeah i wish they would stop making him out to be bad for a change

Yes the writers went too far with Todd's character. Todd is known to have many scoundrel ways but physical violence against children is not one of them; they're making him out to be a very uncool guy. In reality I think alot of fathers who walk into a room to find their virgindaughter naked with some boy would probably beat up the boy too though; its that basic instinct to protect their young daughters.

I think Todd's actions were justified but maybe he did go a little to far. I can understand that he felt like he was protecting his daughter.

I'm hoping John gets more punches in tomorrow. Todd went way over the line in beating Cole and Marko. I never loved Todd or understood him. He's a maniac. He's heartless, ruthless, smug, selfish, an unfit father, and unfit person. He should be beaten up and then locked in a cage. Starr's just like her father.
I'm hoping somehow Tommy/Sam will be taken away from Todd. He's a child abuser.

Everybody's freaking out over what Todd did to Marco and Cole and while I whole heartedly agree, here's the thing...That's not out of Todd's nature. Starr is his baby and he's going to do whatever he needs to do to protect (no matter how crazy his thoughts are) If he thinks Starr is in trouble, if you get in his way, he'll hurt you. It doesn't matter if you're forty or if your four.

This is where the writers went over the line. Todd, no matter how angry or upset he's ever been with Starr has never once raised a hand to her or any of his other children. To me that was worse than him beating up Cole or Marco. When Todd raised his hand to Starr that's when they took it too far.

However I was thoroughly pleased of John's interference and swift punch to the face of Manning. I'm hoping that tomorrow Todd will get the reality check he so deserves.

i though i was watching jerry springer
