How many men out there watch soap operas?!

Question: I'm just curious. The only soap I watch is General Hospital whichI've been watched for years. Anyway, when my husband and I first got married, he would totally make fun of me while I was watching, which I (mostly) handled w/good humor. Either that, or would I just started ignore him. He's usually tinkering around w/something or other when I watch my shows so he's kind of in the background and can hear what's going on but he doesn't ever sit down and watch w/me. Anyway, lately I've noticed that when he makes fun of the show, he actually makes fun of a certain situations or characters, which he wouldn't know about unless he was paying attention. And then, last night he was making fun of Emily and how she was so prissy sometimes, and how he hated the scene when she went to visit Nicholas in jail and flipped out on him (which happened a couple of years ago). I was floored. I accused him of being a closet GH fan, and he admitted it. (I'm actually a little proud of converting him).

My husband used to ridicule me for watching Corrie and Eastenders. He is into documentaries, news and sports. A few months ago, he watched them both with me, then he watched more often, then I found him watching Corrie on TV upstairs. Now, if he is not about, he asks me to tape them for him. He's sometimes discusses the characters and their situations with me. He won't admit it to anyone and has sworn me to secrecy.

Your husband and mine would have a very strange boys night out together, debating soaps all night!

I'm not a closet fan, I have come out of the closet! I love All My Children! My brother Kyle does too. Are you out there, Kyle?

Yes, as he says, I watch All My Children and I've been out of the closet for 10 years.

I've been watching soaps for 15 years. My sister got me hooked during summer vacation. I've told her that I hate her for it. LOL.

My ex step-dad, straight as can be, starting watching Desperate Housewives and The OC when I knew him. I think there are more men out there than they care to admit. Soaps have sex scenes and men are inherently into sex. So, why would they try to ignore soaps?

My husband watches Y&R with me everyday for about the last 8 years. He loves it. He doesn't admit it to anyone and I certainly never tell anyone. It is kinda our little secret. I never understood why some men are bothered by the fact that they could actually enjoy a soap! I mean some of them watch wrestling and these days that is nothing more than manly sports soaps... LOL

I got two of my ex's to watch GH with me. They both actually loved watching it. They would tell me come on it is almost on. I think they really only watched it because of Sonny and the MOB stuff that goes on. lol but atleast they watched it with me.

my husband used to watch GH with me and OLTL before we moved to Germany..he said GH isnt a "soap" cause Sonny was a mob boss..so it was ok to watch..go figure lol.

i would have to say any man with a women in the house as the majority of women watch soaps. me included!!

I also have brother that watches soap every now and then. When he was with his ex- girlfriend. She got him hooked on passions. And this was sometime ago before he married his wife. And him and his wife have been married almost a year now. Coming next month. I mean he doesn't watch them much any more. But he did at the time. Plus - he was also in to one life to life when Spencer Truman first came in. And he had Todd sent to death row.

my husband and my son(16years old) watch all my children. they have me tape it for them and they watch it at night,

My dad has watched AMC for as long as I can remember. I know that he and my stepmom also watch Days.

On the flip side, my husband ABHORS soap operas and never watches them with me. He has no interest, so I watch them when he's not around.:)

Good question!!

Being a female, I can't speak for the men who watch the soaps, but my ex husband would make fun of the soaps I watch, yet when he was watching them, he would ask me questions about the characters. He also new them by name when we first met. My boyfriend is the same way. He knows the characters by name and constantly asks me about the storyline.
