I think it's from an episode in the third season called "Abra Cadaver". It involves a woman who goes missing during a magic trick.

Well, it is before Greg became a CSI but it's later in the series because Grissom's hair is more grey. I'm sorry I don't know for sure. I am a huge fan of this show!
i remember the hat one because he pretended to know the answer w/o looking...its an early one..i would say maybe 3rd or 4th season.....
