Question for those who like reality TV shows...?!

Question: including the shows on HGTV, Food Network, Tru Tv, all those - from Survivor to The first 48, From Big Brother to Iron Chef. And everything in between. After watching reality tv programs - do you find it hard to go back to the shows like Christine and Vegas? i find that the more reality tv i watch the less i like regular tv.. it has to be something very good for me to be interested. Anyone else feel that way?

I prefer reality TV or dramas like Jericho (which is awesome) or CSI. They have "real" people and you get involved with the main characters.

I don't care for most of the comedy's anymore. They just aren't funny. I do like Monday nights on CBS except for that new show The Capitan which I turn off.

I like true crime TV and the judge shows too.

I think things like Nanny 911 are popular b/c they show real families in real situations.

Iron Chef, BB, American Idol and stuff like that are about the competition.

Flip this house, extreme makeover are about helping people and we see things get turned around for deserving people and it makes us want to believe in good things happening.

Wife Swap and Trading Spouses well....I have watched them and IDK why we do. I guess it's like Survivor we want to see how people act when they are out of their comfort zone. What type of person they become.

Yes i feel the same way. I don't like scripted things anymore! lol

Yes it's very hard. But I still like to watch them once in a while

I agree!

Yeah, but really watch very little on the tv as it is. But hey, welcom back! ~~Peace~~

I know what you mean! I LOVE and am addicted to reality shows. most shows dont stand up to reality shows anymore, there are very few... maybe 3 or 4. i get what your saying!
:) Wish you the best...

Nope I prefer regular TV, though I do like The Food Network shows and Wife Swap.

I agree. I just recently started watching reality tv/competition shows (So You Think You Can Dance, Survivor, & American Idol), but I already find them much more entertaining than most scripted shows. They're just so...addicting. =]

I'm starting to get bored with reality TV. Is it really reality TV? Everyone knows they're on "reality TV" and I wonder if they're being themselves or not. I don't mean to sound negative but I'm starting to question it.

Yes I completely agree. I have not really been really into a scripted show since Friends went off the air! After that I started watching allot of Reality Tv shows and I love them. The only show I try to watch new episodes of is Heroes!

I don't watch alot of reality TV...wife swap & American Idol...(if that even is reality tv!!) But I still enjoy shows like ,Lost,ER, Desperate Housewives....& more.

I like the reality shows on HGTV like Design on a Dime and Hidden Potential because you don't have to watch every show to know what's going on like you do with a drama or comedy series. I like the fact that if I get to watch it, great, and if I miss it oh, well no big deal because I won't be lost when I turn it on again the next week. Same reason for Iron Chef. I try to keep up with the reality shows that are a competition but sometimes that's too difficult (with two boys under three and working part time by 9:00 some nights I'm passed out).

I don't think that it's better television, just different. It doesn't require as much effort to watch (not an insult at all, please don't take it that way) but you don't have to remember what happened with Bobby Flay last week to understand what is going on this week with IC, for example.

Completely!! I've said this for a couple years. Laugh tracks annoy me beyond explanation, & the situations are even dumber. At least on reality TV, there is a reason for the idiocy!! Its nice to see a show that isn't going just for laughs--drama is better!! It seems like on reality, they just put the show out there & let you decide for yourself how you feel about it. Regular TV basically is telling you how to feel (this is funny, so laugh: here's canned laughter to help you know what to do). I resent being taken for being so stupid...Long live reality!!
