neil had to leave because of something that had happened at home.
sharon & jacob had been evicted, & joshua no longer had a parter, so he had to choose either sharon or jacob to come back & be his partner. as none of the other housemates liked jacob, joshua chose sharon to come back despite the fact he's gay.
he never said why.
All that was said was that he had to take care of a family emergency..
