Y&R – Which characters have you changed your mind about for the positive and neg!

Question: Here’s my list:

Positive:

JT – I started out thinking this guy had a serious ego problem in his detective career, especially after he assaulted Kevin with a napkin dispenser when he suspected him of killing Carmen Mesta, (this after he pushed him to activate his laptop before Michael came). Now, with his love and marriage to Victoria, and being a father to Reed, I think he’s become a more likeable character.

Amber – When she was first introduced, I thought she was going to be a useless character with no credible or interesting storyline, and I wanted her back on Bold and the Beautiful immediately. But lately, with getting her fashion design career of the ground, helping Katherine out, and her romance to Daniel, I’m seeing how interesting her character is.

Colleen – At first, I thought she was a spoiled brat with her controversial romance with Adrian, with her being his student and all, and I really thought she should listen to her father, Brad. Since Brad’s own scandals have been revealed however, I’ve begun to feel sorry for her, and I’ve begun to see where she’s coming from with her rebellion towards him. Now, if only they can fire this new twit play her, and bring back Adrienne Leon.

Nikki – This would be a “positive to negative to positive.” She started out as a matriarch that I heavily admired – especially when she was calling out Slutbag Sharon for her affairs while married to Nick, and when she abandoned Cassie for those months. Then she decided to run for Senate, and I hated how she let her visions of victory go to her head. Now, given the way she’s being treated, and the successful manner she’s running her company, I have to give her props once again. She deserves everything she envisions for her future and wants to have.

Negative:

Brad: I started out really feeling for him in his difficulty to break up his daughter Colleen’s relationship with Adrian, that which he did not approve. Now that his past has been revealed to Genoa City, (his tryst with Slutbag Sharon in New York; the George Kaplan controversy) I see him as a hypocritical snake in the grass who has no business lecturing Colleen on how to behave. And I hope that baby Reed does not belong to him in this potential storyline following the baby’s staph infection.

Victor: He has gone from someone who loves his wife and children, to someone who doesn’t give a hoot about family. It’s evident in the way he has talked to Nikki during their divorce, and the way he fired Nick from Newman Cosmetics for alleged betrayal. He needs a kick up the rear for the way he’s behaving, and if he insists on continuing on this track, I hope he loses everything he worked so hard for, including Victoria’s respect.

Heather – Ironically, this is a character I really wanted to like, especially given that I felt sorry for the abusive past she suffered. However, said abusive past has apparently given her free reign to act like a snot-nosed little freak with little to no compassion for anyone. Perhaps she’s obsessed with her career? Needless to say, her vendetta towards Phyllis is what really killed it for me, and quick. And I don’t like the way she’s treating Paul, either; he had a good reason for staying away, it’s what Heather’s birth parents agreed on. She’s one of those people who needs to get drunk and laid in order to have fun.

Hmmmm......
Negative to Positive-Jeffrey Bardwell
At first I didn't like what he was up to...now I really enjoy how he has GloHo swarming and strategizing with Kevin all the time. He seems to always be two steps ahead of her. Finally, somebody that is giving her a run for her money-literally.

Negative to Positive-Amber
I didn't like how she blew into town and her con marriage to Cane. I'm starting to feel for her and like Katherine, I see a little bit of myself in her character. She is very ambitious and can talk her way out and into everything. As far as the stolen money, I probably would have done the same thing with it.

Positive to Negative-Brad
I really liked Brad at one point. Then with his torrid affair with Sharon and the way he would always be around her by accident, really got on my nerves. Oh, and like you, I couldn't stand the way he would try to rule over Colleen when he basically wrote the book on how to be immoral. Oh yeah, and their was a time when he slept with Olivia while he was with Ashley.

Positive to Negative to ?- Sharon
Remember when Sharon was good and wholesome, helping her disabled mother....at least we thought she was. Then it turned out that she had a baby while in high school. Her many affairs, abandoning her kids for months. I used to refer to her as SharHo but now she seems to be not as slutty, now that she has gotten over her addiction to Brad. I still can't see her in a positive light because the whole marriage to Jack....how could you be with your ex-husband's used to be step-dad...ewww, But then again she did try to "seduce" Victor, had he wanted her, he could have got her. SO....with me going through her history, I'll leave her at a negative.

Negative to Positive to Negative-Kevin
Lily's internet lover that gave her an STD. So many bad things to name that Kevin has done but he turned over a new leaf. He became a productive member of society, a business owner. Then he fell in love with a psycho. And he continually connives with his mother. What a twisted mother son relationship.

no

I agree with you on everybody except:

Nikki - I HATE her
Amber - I have ALWAYS loved her

I agree with the positive characters and two of your negative character choices (I don't know much about Heather).

dude I watched this when Nikki was a stripper!
JT and Victoria will split when he becomes over bearing and tells her what to do. Victor Jr. is up to something! Victor will likely be written off one of these years soon
Amber is a waste of character like Jenna and Daniel
Heather is just a skeleton in closet that is really a boring tale

I hate to admit it, but Amber is growing on me and I agree with you about bringing the old Colleen back, I really don't care for this actress they have now. I have always disliked Brad.

I find myself liking Victor more now. I agree with Heather I did not like her at all at first, but now that they are trying to put her and Daniel together we are seeing a different side of her! and with her forgiving Paul she is starting to shed the complete ***** persona.

i'm yet to see anything likable about heather. as far as i'm concerned she standing in the way of amber and daniel becoming a couple.

sharon changed for the -'ve with me the moment she started to have an emotional then physical affair with brad. she has had this holier than thou air about her with nick since casey died. i'm glad nicked ended up with phyllis.

niki changed for -'ve too. once she got with david and refused to listen to victor about running in the election and going against him with clear springs and victoria's baby medical scare. when was the last time niki supported victor in anything? and now she is prouncing around with david on her arm as if its smtng good when she's too stupid to realise that he is using her.

Dave,
I agree with most of your points on your various pointsexcept I've never been a fan of Amber, itry to like her but I just cant. You're right about Heather, I would probably like her more if she just loosened up, I think Daniel can help her with that and coming to terms that Paul is her dad and how to allow herself to accept that...Daniel had that real strange beginning with Phyllis.
I like the new Colleen better, the old one seems so whiny. I think the writers are trying to make her more mature.
I used to hate Sharon, buit now that she is with Jack and truly committed to him and their marriage, she's ok. Especially with their war with Gloria and Jeffrey...it's almost funny
Do you agree?

Cane,
he might just be a good guy.

You forgot about Kevin.

Kevin -- from bad to good.

Started out as Lily's older internet boyfriend. Tried to kill Colleen. Now look a him!

You also forgot Phyllis.

Phyllis -- Really Bad to Okay

She started out as the woman who stole Danny from Cricket, and tricked him into marrying her. Now look at her!

I so agree with you on your negative feelings toward Nicki,,Has she forgotten where she came from???TO look down her nose like she does toward ANYBODY besides Sharon ,,,,She talks down to everyone except her children,,Katheryn and for a time David,,,What has made her so "special '' that she can do this???
Now on Brad,,,he is a SNAKE,,and I don't care how gorgeous he is??I have hated him since he was a Abbott Poll Boy,,come on???Tracy,,that should have been a #1 clue as to what he was after!!!

Heather,,,I haven't liked her since the day she has walked into Genoa City,,,WHY does she feel that Paul and everybody "owes" her,,like you said it was a decision made by April & Paul,,,
I've gone from not liking Gloria ,( actualy its been a love hate feeling for her) But I am loving the Gruesome Twosome living with Jack and Sharon and have even started to let my guard down with SharHo,,,,,(she does have a funny side with Phyliss)
With Amber,,,I've been a fan since she wrecked HAVOC with The Forresters and was the only one to cross Sheila AND live to tell the story,,,
I went from Negative to Positive feelings with Victoria,,,just since shes been with JT have I liked her,,It seemed like she never smiled while with Brad ( which I can understand )
I like the New Colleen much better than the old one because everytime she spoke,,,it seemed to be more of a whine than speaking and again,,,,never a "happy face"
All done and said,,,I Love Young & restless and have been a fan since 1974 ,,,,,

Good Question. I would say JT, he would be more of a Postive and Nikki would be a Negative..
