Question: If you mean from prior seasons, yes, they're not as high as they used to be. However, they're still dominating their respective weeknights. It's normal for any show in its 7th season to lose viewers, what's amazing is that Idol continues to dominate the competition so thoroughly.

I'm not watching this year.
Depends on what you consider sliding, 30 million viewers is alot of ppl, and no other show even has near that many viewers.
I would imagine so since the only good part is the beginning where you see all the people who sing bad. Everything else to me is bull s**t and i could care less.

I don't know if it's true but I know I haven't been watching since mid-last season. None of the talent is unique anymore. They all sound the same. Just like the talent on the radio. It's all the same thing over and over again.
I Tivo it, but I usually fast forward through most of it...when I watch it at all. I wouldnt be surprised if the ratings were lower this year than other years. None of the contestants have that WOW factor, in my opinion. That could change I suppose.
Yes too many of the best singers end up going home. After what happened to Melinda last year, I decided not to watch this year. I was so emotionally invested in the show rooting and voting, it's a hard blow when your favorite contestant goes home especially when they didn't deserve it in the first place.
Maybe people are bored of the same concept.....

Most of America is not interested in the "gay" factor. How many of the guys are leaning towards that direction? Some of them almost make me want to puke!!! They almost make me not want to watch...
I hope so .Despite all the nonsense that AI keeps telling about how this year's crop of singers are the best ever my very experienced rock n roll ears don't hear it at all I think that this years crop of singers are mostly boring and formulaic singers.
There is no Taylor Hicks to root for and be happy for him that he won or a Sanjaya to root against
There is also the nagging suspicion that this year's contest is fixed. Both Amanda and Carly should have been gone on the first night because they're both bad singers but the powers that be seem to want to promote these people bc they're interesting

yes uts probably because some contestants have already been singers before
