Last Night's Lost..please help me sort it out...?!
Question: I am a little confused because in Desmond's flashback episode a while back, he joined the boat race after he dumped Penny then was on the island for the next three years which implies that he left in 2001 for the boat race. But last night they showed that he dumped her 8 years ago in 1996 then joined the militarty. I guess I am a little more than confused about this. Did he do the whole military thing before the boat race and we just assumed he dumped her right before? Please help me get it straight because I erased it and can't watch it again.

I asked this question too, and the answer I recieved was he dumped penny before the boat race.
That is confusing...cause he meets Jack right before he joins the boat race. Unless...he had the time travel capabilities then too. Oh I'm reaching and just confusing myself even more.
