The mayor didn't think Lidnsey, a felon, should be living withthe commisioner of police so he fired him but he was being blackmailed by Ramsey to do so and the job went to him.
Bo is on One Life to Live and he was fired because the Mayor did not think he was doing a good job, too many unsolved cases while he was in charge. theres also the possibility that Ramsey may have black mailed the mayor into doing it so he could have the comissioner job.

days is because he was sick
and oltl because remsey is dirty cop
cuz the show is screwed up im glad they tricked him into bringing John back.

Bo agreed to be temporary guardian to Lindsay and the Mayor didn't like it - so he says.....Actually, the Mayor was either blackmailed or bribed by Lee Ramsey to fire Bo and appoint him Police Commissioner. Lindsay offered to move out when this happened, but Bo said no, that it was a court order (plus Bo is falling in love with Lindsay again.)
Apparently we all must have missed that one because there is no Bo on AMC. You have to either be talking about OLTL or Days.
