Question: Now we're suppose to believe meeting a waitress in a restaurant and jumping in bed with her in less than a week has changed his life! Rick has never been...good. Rick has never done any good deed without a scheme up his sleeve so do we now care about any storyline with Rick?

You're exactly right. Now the writers are not only trying to redeem Sam but Ric too! Give me a break, neither one of them have a heart.

I have to disagree... slightly.
While Ric is very twisted, he has always had a vulnerable/fix me/I want to be good trait to him.... he is like Sonny that way. It's why women like Alexis & Elizabeth fall for men like them! :-) When Ric was with Liz, for a short amount of time we saw good Ric and also, in the very beginning with Alexis. He's always made the attempt to move on from the revenge thing with Sonny.
Maybe 3rd time's a charm and he'll actually give Sonny the deed.
OR 3 strikes you're OUT and he blows Trevor, Sonny and Port Charles away by taking over the territory, naming Alexis the new DA and going MOBSTER!!! hahaha Maybe then a team up with Claudia would make sense ;-P
That being said. I was kind of put off when they changed the actress for Mariana, but either way I never liked the character & hoped they wouldn't take the SL this far.
I kind of hope this is the SL that falls by the wayside (in reference to current question on board of same topic) :-)

I know what you mean. He was interesting when he first came to town and then all the things he did to Liz and Carly! Please, he keeps acting like a creep he started to redeem himself with Alexis and the girls and ruined it by sleeping with Sam!

I do not care at all for this sl. I cannot stand the character Marianna and I am bored to tears with Ric.... get rid of 'em both, I say!
I wish they would give us something to believe in with Ric. i don't believe this storyline right now.
I would like to see him vulnerable. Make Molly sick or something so he can redeem himself. He needs something to make him human. Not a monster.
ric will never be a good, loving, kind human being. liz couldn't change him. neither could alexis. and he has a child whom he loves dearly but there is no changing this man.
Despite all the awful things Ric has done, I love him, Rick Hurst is a really good actor. They re casted him for 3 days when Jason was on trial, I could not even watch it.
