Was anybody else bothered by how QUICKLY Helen Mirren named the Best Male Actor !

Question: This was the Category I had waited for all night and she didn't let me ponder whether Viggo Mortensen would win while his face in that little square was present.

Answers: This was the Category I had waited for all night and she didn't let me ponder whether Viggo Mortensen would win while his face in that little square was present.

At the risk of ignominy (and loss of points:), I was not bothered by Ms. Mirren's "quick" announcement. With due deference to Mr. Mortensen, the category, although important, was not one with much doubt as to the winner. Additionally, the telecast was running long, and she may have been under some pressure to hurry.

Perhaps we might agree on another point: I found the telecast to be boring; and the lack of suspense was exacerbated by the inane patter between Superbad's Johan Hill and Seth Rogen over which one of them looked more like Halle Berry!

I did enjoy Jon Stewart. He was kind, gracious and funny. I particularly appreciated the producers permitting him to bring back to the microphone Marketa Irglova, co-writer of "Falling Slowly," who had been cut off before she could give her acceptance speech.

Yes, the show suffered because there was no box office blockbuster amongst the five nominated Best Picture Oscar contenders. But, for me, the only real suspence came with Marion Cotillard's win for Best Actress over Julie Christie, a victory for a genuinely knockout performance over a good one that had sentiment on its side; and with Tilda Swinton's win for her supporting role in "Michael Clayton," a portrayal of the unsavoury and frighteningly ruthless lawyer done with unusual skill.

REALLY?? wow.

btw helen mirren can do what she wants. she is awesome.

If you were waiting all night, you had plenty of time to ponder it. I myself like it when they cut to the chase.

She needed a wee..... and wanted off the stage quick.

she wasn't the only one that was quick, a couple presenters rushed through it.

i think everyone loves to hate that long pause...that was so ruined!

It was late, she was rushed. The really big one was coming up and she wanted to give the Coen Brothers time to say -- nothing.

Whether she went slow or fast the same person won. She was probably rushed, and /or nervous, I'm sure she meant no offense. Besides somebody probably went over and they were trying to wrap it up. The program is live so it can't be completely controlled.

she? MALE?
