I watched a progam on CBC last nite and it was saying that all DVD's bought !

Blu Ray is the next generation of DVD's. It beat out the HD-DVD format war with HD-DVD being sent to it's deathbed last week.
So all HD-DVD's will be in Blu Ray format. Blu Ray holds more content than the regular HD-DVD.
I would expect companies to keep producing movies on regular dvd's just for the shear fact that there's so many people with regular dvd players.
Of course down the road when the world is much more aligned with High Definition capabilities and the costs go down, the majority of us will have a blu ray player.
Unless some new more advanced dvd format comes into play and smears it all up again.
Ugh, thus is the world of technology.
I was asking my husband about this the other day in wal-mart when i seen the blue-ray movies, he said that its like a dvd but it just has a better picture, more clear and better defination, probably here soon we wont see regular dvds anymore, they will all be blue-ray
Blue Ray is a HD DVD player. There were two types. The Blu Ray and the regular HD DVD (i dont know the difference)
HD DVD folded and so now all high def movies will be in the blue ray format and yes I suspect at some point we are all going to have to go out and buy a blue ray player. But for now the movies are still coming out in regular format.
Blue ray is something to do with the playstation 3, so new dvd's you buy are compatible with the playstation 3, so you dont have to buy specially adapted ones just for the ps3 that you cant use in the dvd player.
