Question: I admit Kristy Lee Cook is an outstanding singer and I loved watching her perform live in San Antonio in front of hundreds 2 years ago but she already has a recording contract with Rendel Management Group. So is this fair to have her compete with the non-professionals?

The article I read says that they can't have a CURRENT contract and that she doesn't. It said that it is in the past. Anyway, I think it's fine. Look at Taylor Hicks, he had a previous record as well.

She's not the only one. Carly Smithson-or whatever her name is-had an album out. It only sold 300 some copies, but still she has a CD out. But then she was known as Carly Hennessy.
No although i think she's really talented and would be a great american idol, I don't think it's fair. American Idol is a show for UNDISCOVERED talent.
She does not have a CURRENT contract and that's what the rules state so she and the others are not breaking the rules. And if you think this is the first year that people are on who have had previous record experience you're in denial.
No, I don't think so. I agree with the girl a few people above me that said the show is for undiscovered talent. In the beginning seasons of American Idol..that was what it was about. Now it seems like the producers milk this show for all it's worth anymore with all of these scandals and what not to get ratings. Plus, for these "professionals" that bombed out to get a fanbase so they get rich and make a profit off of their old flopped albums. I'm really tired of it to be quite honest.
And if Carly Smithson was really sick, why didn't they just say so on the night that the boys performed? lol
