they think that there are people who came to the island to save them. they are finding out that this is not true. they are actually there for Ben. they are having the same "flashbacks" as before but now they are more like "flashfowards" where they show the future not the history of the survivors. the group has separated into 2 groups now.
They "lost" me in the first part of season two. Sorry I can't help.

In the flash forwards we learned that 6 people get off the island. Sayid, Hurley, Kate, Jack, someone else who died after returning and possibly someone else. Ben is off the island in the future too and has hired Sayid as a hitman. As usual there are more questions then answers.
