In family guy: apart from brian can anyone else hear stewie speak?!

Question: Communication with adults
Seth MacFarlane has established a few general rules as to how Stewie communicates with others.

Brian always understands
Brian is, as of now, the only main character whose ability to understand Stewie is unambiguous; the two always converse normally. In "Running Mates", Brian briefly appears to hear Stewie's thoughts; this phenomenon has not been explored in subsequent episodes.
Adults understand, but disregard Stewie
Throughout the first two seasons of the series, it was suggested that none of the other prominent characters (with some minor exceptions) could understand what Stewie says, apparently hearing what he says through their ears as infantile blathering. At the end of the episode "E. Peterbus Unum", the question of whether adults could understand Stewie is raised. In the DVD audio commentary, MacFarlane explains adults can understand him, but don't take him seriously, "sort of like... if a four-year-old who [could] talk told you to 'drop dead', you'd think it'd be cute." In this manner, characters acknowledge Stewie, but pay no mind to his often-insulting addresses, such as calling Peter "the fat man" and referring to Lois by her given name. His insults are occasionally heard, such as when Stewie tells Lois "Why don't you burn in hell?!" Lois replies, "Well, no dessert for you, young man."

Sometimes I wonder the same thing but Im preety sure its just brian who can hear him speak because they always look at him like hes stupid or something

Sometimes it seems to me like everybody BUT the Griffins can hear him speak.

I think that Brian and everyone else except the Griffin's can hear him. It is a little odd how that works out and how no one else looks at him weird when he is talking in full sentences as a baby. But the show is funny

Brian's girlfriend can hear him talk.

I agree with Mary. I've noticed that Brian hears him, but when he talks to Lois or Peter ,Chris, Meg....etc they don;t seem to understand him. Once I remember Lois telling Stewie to "use his words", like she was encouraging him to talk more. So they probably just hear baby talk, but Brian hears his exact words. Just my opinion.

Hmmm, never noticed that. I'll have to watch more carefully next time. Great question! Makes me think........ouch!

I think that Brian is the only one that can hear him and i think that the things that he does are just like every other baby but our outside version of him and his own version are different.....does that make ne sense??lol

everyone does but only Brian knows what he is capable of
