For the Blackadder fans...?!
Question: Why is every season of Blackadder not linked to the previous season? I notice he was a prince in season one, and not sure what he was in season II, worked for the queen.. and in season three he is a butler? Haven't gotten to four yet. Also, they use the same actors to play different characters in each season, and it's very confusing. Why isn't it consistent?

It's supposed to be different generations of Edmund's family.
The first one was as the second son of Richard IV, also his title was the Duke of Edinburgh, same title as Prince Philip holds.
Second was a courtier in Queen Elizabeth's court, someone who had known her for quite awhile. He gets various assignments at various times.
The third was the butler to the Prince of Wales, future George IV. Hugh Laurie had appeared in the last episode of the second series, now returning as the Prince.
Hugh Laurie will be back as a man named George in Blackadder goes Forth.
The one consistent character in his name and station in life is Baldrick.
