In the TV series FRIENDS, what does it mean when they hit their knuckles?!
Question: k i am a total friends junkie! i own all the seasons, the only time i can think of them hittings thier knuckles is when ross and rachel do it when they're talking to rachels sister about emma.
rachel's sister (jill) wants to keep the baby if ross and rachel die. then rachel says "if anything were to happen to ross and i.." then they knock on the table.
have you ever heard of knocking on wood, it's so that the thing that they just said doesn't happen.

You mean, when they hit their wrists against the other wrist means they're trying to say "F*** you" without saying the words.
Ross and Monica did that to each other when they were kids in lieu of flipping each other off so they wouldn't get in trouble.
it's flipping someone off. like saying f**k you. ross came up with it when he was younger. and monica says "I remember i cried the night you made that up. it was when i realized that i was cooler than my older brother". he came up with it so he could to it to monica or their parents without getting in trouble. he first did it to rachel when she made fun of him and paleontology and said her college boyfriend was better.
