GH; Why do the writers of GH keep making Sam the kicked dog.?!

well my opinion is this. Its a soap. If things were all perfect no one would watch.
I loved the character Sam when she was with Jax. But it creeped me out when she went with Jason after being Sonny and haven't liked her since. I just couldn't get past her sleeping with Her babies fathers best friend and Mother's husband. Me not liking Sam really has nothing to do with Liz unlike most people. The day that I saw her sleeping with Ric is what killed her character for me and yet she gets on her high horse about Liz's lies. Jason & Lucky dumped her for reasons that were worthy. She self distructs her relationships because she is insecure. its what her character does. As far as her getting attacked by TMK, well she is still alive unlike poor Georgie & Emily so she should be grateful she has such a fan base that she survived it.
So the Kicked Dog list really is rather large its not just her.
Maxie lost her sister 2 boyfriends and parents who abandoned her.
Robin pretty much raised herself lost the love of her life and got HIV
Sonny lost brenda lilly an unborn child. had his kids kidnapped, His wife went crazy he has bipolar issues cant keep a girlfriend... should i continue???
the writers just pick one character and run with it for a few years until fans get sick of seeing the same person in the spotlight.
I think it is because she is a popular character, and it keeps the fans watching to see what she does to get out of things.
Just how the soap opera turns....:D
It's only because she deserves it.
i'm a sam fan but she makes alot of stupid decisions and she lies when she doesnt really have too. she is very flawed but i love her. she wouldnt be in so many bad situations if she would be more honest. but a break up, the tmk and hit and run is a bit much for some one to go thru all in 1 night. the writers wanted us to hate her, is the only explanation i have.

I think that they realized their "golden girl" Elizabeth lost some fans when Sam came on the show. I'm sure the writers didn't realize that so many people would love Sam. It seems like lately they are trying to make the Sam fans hate her and like Liz....... not gonna happen!! I understand that Sam has made mistakes, but who hasn't?? Everyone hates on Sam, but she has been through so much. All the things you listed are bad, but on top of that she lost her daughter, lost the baby she and Jason were gonna adopt, might never be able to have kids, AND Jason had a baby w. Liz. It is enough to make anyone do things they wouldn't under normal circumstances (i.e. watch Jake get kidnapped). Jason threw her away like yesterday's garbage after everything she has been through and done for him. Lucky is just an idiot and I hope she doesn't take him back when he decides he wants her again.
I wish I knew the answer to that. Sam's my favorite and hate that they keep kicking her down. I am happy though that they still are portraying her as a strong woman. She can be independant she just wants and needs to be loved.
I guess it is just her turn, it seem at one point each woman on GH has a really bad year! Liz a few years back had it too, Carly seems to always be there but usually makes her problems! Just part of the show!
If a character on a Soap isnt having bad things happen in his/her life than they arent very important to the show. All the major characters, get pregnant, get divorced, get cheated on, lose babies, have addictions, etc. That is what makes people watch the show. If they didnt, it would be pretty boring.
I think it's so that we can feel sorry for Sam. They want us to forget all the bad things she's done. Sam has had her up's and down's. But after she slept with Ric she took a downward spiral. So now they want us to see her as the kick ***, gets through anything chick. Hopefully they will stop throwing her with guy after guy. I want to see her character do well on her own without the need of a man.
honestly, i think they're trying to make people feel sorry for her. she is too - apologetic.

she was made to be hated because she was leaving the show. but now that the actress has decided to renew her contract they are redeeming her character by making people feel bad for Sam, sadly now there is a bit of a debate going on..Team Liz and Team Sam, I sit on Team Sam, but if you read a lot of the answers given in the General Hospital questions you will find that there are a lot on Team Liz who hate Sam and everything she has done to Baby Jake and she is not being redeemed to those people. guess it all depends on what side you sit on whether you decide she is getting a raw deal or what she deserves.
Because her character is that of a lousy no good, no morals, non caring sleeze who doesn't have a good bone in her body, never says a kind word, and has the character of a snake.
Other than that, I don't know!
idk its starting to bug me;; they show more sam then anyone
