It had alot going for it
1. Girl Power (trio of witches who used their powers for good
2. Aaron Spelling
3. Actresses who had fans before the series started from their other work (Shannon Doherty - 90210; Allyssa Milano - Who's the boss; Hollie Combs - Picket Fences
4. Campy fun, supernatural powers, good vs. evil
5. As with 90210, it became a showcase for bands to be seen by the "teen" crowd that was watching (Bless Aaron Spelling for writing another club into his series.. lol)
6. Guests and other Regulars that were known elsewhere (their mom used to be on GH, Of COURSE Julian McMahon - (now of Nip Tuck fame) etc..
It was pure escapeism....
Well it was popular show on the now defunct WB in the late nineties and earlier part of this decade.
The show itself offered a slightly different take on witches and the supernatural. We get to see 3 strong females who use their powers for helping man-kind. It offered an escape from the doldrums of daily life for us mere mortals.
The actresses themselves also already had a bit of following before the show started, so people who were fans of say Alyssa Milano tuned in to see what she was up to presently.

Actually its only 10 points dont get carried away now...lol but anyways its a great show mainly because of the actresses the got to play the 3 sisters, Shannon and Alyssa were hot actresses Shannon being very popular at the time the show first started and once the show got its hype they had a lot of guests and haven't you noticed the bands that play at the end of almost every show in Pipers club, the music and the action made it popular and its still a great show to watch for reruns...
