Why do cops on tv always yell "hey you" to a suspect when they're !

Question: "Hey you!" Gee, did you think the guy was going to stop, walk over to you and have a chat when he has warrants out and you're standing in front of a bleeping cop car? Come on, if you know it's your guy, sneak up on him for pete's sake! Don't yell "hey!" you moron! Does anyone else want to slap some sense into fictional cops?

It is literally just an excuse for a chase scene. Lots of non-action Law & Order type shows do show the cops walking up to the guy at work and slapping the cuffs on.

If a tv show has moved you so much for you to post a questions on Yahoo, then the producers have done their job. I hope you realise that this is exactly what makes you keep watching the show every week. Its the hope for something 'good' happening or for someone on the show do it like you would have that makes you want to watch it again.

It's the same reason a half naked chick wanders out into the woods alone or goes skinny dipping.
Or that car breaks down or runs out of gas in the middle of nowhere.
Or that house's front door is unlocked. lol

yeah and the same as when the person is alone in the house and they look everywhere except behind them, and you shout "look behind you, you f*cking idiot" you your friend next to you gets a fright cause of your yelling and messes popcorn and coke over both ya'll.
