They do get paid to do the show....all of them have RICH families that they sponge off of...(especially Spencer and Brody)except Heidi's family is just maybe a lil above avg and Audrina's as well...lauren has a clothing line I am sure she is making some change off of also...alot of those clothes too are probably "donated' by designers...btw..can't wait for the Paris episodes and SN 4!!!!

Yes, they basically live off their parents. You should rent & watch season 1 & 2 of Laguba Beach...basically, it's Lauren's backstory. And a little bit of Jason's. Not only will it fill in some blanks, it's good!!
That show is no more reality than I am Oprah Winfrey!
I mean I love the show and all but think about it ...Heidi calls her friend (not a regular on the show) in a few states away and the cameras just happen to be there.
Also, that show "The Soup" formally Talk Soup, busted them on a mistake. This guy with a buzz cut asked Lauren out for dinner for that same night. Well when they showed them at dinner his hair had grown about an inch. Meaning they shot that scene much much later; not the same day if it was really reality.
i think it's a combination of living off the parents, getting paid to be on the show and being a "celebrity" so you know they get tons of free crap.
The Networks pays them well to act like idiots! LOL!
Kidding . . . . the show just reminds me of a grown up version of Super Sweet 16!
