yeah it is called 'American Idol' but that is a little harsh, i'm sure that there are some American people over there too, also i don't think they should get voted off first, if they have the talent then why vote them off. Surely you wouldn't vote off someone who had a great voice over someone who coudn't sing as well just because they were from another country.

I don't watch the show- but I say it's pretty obvious to me at least and should be to everyone.

Of course it should be limited to citizens of America- it's all in the name ( American)- baby.
Sticking to conservative roots, I would refer to the show's rules for participation. It appears that they have age limits from 16-28 years, and American citizenship. At the same time, it looks like there may be a loophole...being eligible to work in the US for a specified period of time. In any case, the private business has the right to run as it will, to make the most money it can, so that FOX and it's investors remain in business (all good stuff, as far as I'm concerned).
Ultimately, the market will decide. For this, I'm glad. The government does not require us to watch the show. The government is not requiring set-asides, equal opportunity, or affirmative action to help along the vocally impaired. No, the consumer watches and decides by voting. Yes, they vote similarly to democrat constituents (as often as they can), but that's within the rules too. It's good for the advertisers, good for ratings, good to generate interest. It's all very good, so far.
And because this free enterprise has it's own regulations, and is making huge profits in America, I have no problem with a couple of questionable foreign contestants sneaking through...just to be sacraficed later. We ALL KNOW that Americans can and will always prevail.
I hope the winner gets to sing "God Bless America"...just to tick off some of the other answerers that have no sense of humor here. Probably libs.
