Ashes to Ashes good? bad? Disappointed?!

Question: First show was good in my view but it's always going to fail to live up to the Original

Answers: First show was good in my view but it's always going to fail to live up to the Original

I loved it - but I'm a girl who loves her car chases and one liners so I'm never disappointed :-))
Plus I'm loving the quatro - nice car!

Very disappointing.

I liked it, but fear it may be a bit samey when compared to Life on Mars.

excellent!80's rock!

It was good, I love Gene Hunt. But I think they glorified him too much and I miss Sam Tyler. The new woman isn't as good. But i like looking at the fashions, the cars and the lingo. 80's was my teenage era and its so funny looking back now.

well i thought the first show was brilliant yes i did miss sams character..... but we still have gene genie hunt and the gang and of course the lovely alex drake , can't wait until tomorrows episode, prince charles and dis wedding .......!

love it. I only recently watched life on mars when my husband bought both boxsets, so im still totally hooked and cant wait for the next episode I am loving the music and its really nostalgic looking back at the 80s.

Yes I enjoyed the first episode, but I would tend to agree that it didn't have the same impact as the first episode of "Life on Mars". Personally I put that down to familiarity with the concept though, rather than anything to do with the story itself.

In any case, it's great to have Gene Hunt and co back and in top form.

i think it was outstanding! its got to be difficult making a sequel to such a iconic series like life on mars...and i honestly think they pulled it off with bells on! no its not life on mars....but in its own right i think it is going to be just as watchable.....added to that you just cant go wrong with Gene Hunt! i think i love him!!! at the end of the day this is probably going to be the last we see of this series....they cant do a ninties 1 i wouldnt have thought....only option is going backwards to the sixties.....which wouldnt work cause Gene + co would all look too old!

It's great and nostalgic. Good to see that that Gene Hunt and team are as sexist as ever. Keeley Hawes is nowhere near as good looking as John Simm though!!
Did anyone see Dean Andrews on Loose Women last week? How gorgeous is he without the perm (his own hair by the way!!) and also quite shy.
Can't wait for the next episode.

Dont know yet, only been one episode so far so its too early to tell.

Good.

It was brilliant.

I keep reading how people were disappointed with it compared to Life on Mars. I can only think this is because LOM came first. If they'd started with A2A then they would have loved it as much as LOM was loved.

For me, personally, the 80s was my era so I can relate so much more to A2A than LOM, but I love both shows equally.

Also how can anyone miss Sam, when they still have Gene?!!

I was really looking forward to this but was really disappointed with the first episode. I don't quite understand how she knew Gene Hunt from Sam Tyler. Sam surely died when he leapt off the roof to go back to the 70s? Wasn't that in the present day? She's saying he died in the 80s isn't she? I'm confused. I don't like her much anyway and it's just not funny.
