Lost is the story of a group of people who survived a plane crash somewhere near Malaysia. From Season One we have seen the survivors bond together to try and get off the island while they try to unravel the mysteries of the island. Mysteries of the island include: the mysterious hatch, the Dharma project, the strange group of "others" who appear hostile to the survivors of the plane crash, the strange black smoke, the presence of polar bears on the island, etc. The island also seems to have healing properties: Rose was dying of cancer and is now in remission, Locke was paralyzed and now he walks and Sun was infertile and now is pregnant. There is also the mysterious character of Jacob ( who only Locke, Walt, Hurley and Ben can see) and what he means to the overall mysteries of the island. Now the story seems to be moving towards the rescue of six of the characters, who we see flashes of in the future. Clearly, the six who were rescued are guilty about leaving the others behind. My theory is that the Oceanic six lied to the world about the other survivors being dead. I think the series will end with the Oceanic six finding their way back to the island and rescuing their friends.
Don't jump in part way. Go buy the seasons and watch on dvd. It would take hours to fill you in. After you watch and you still need an explanation, I'll be glad to help.
Wow I've been watching from the beginning and I sometimes don't get it!!! You really have to start at the 1st season to really get it and even then It makes ya go HUH..... I'd recommend renting it.

there's a reason why its called lost. dont bother getting into it. i watched the first two seasons and they still didn't get off the island. the screen writers/director is milking it for all its worth. after all once they get off the island, the shows over. the end.
ok so it started out as a plane that went down somewhere in the ocean.. evry one on the plane became stranded and made a home on this island unaware that ppl were already on this island and that their plane going down was no accident! soon they learn of the 'others'... ppl that run this island, they r sort of modern day pirates. the point of the island is supposed to be research.. but for what who know's. they show flash baks about the passangers lives before the accident and in some strange way they were all connected in before the crash! it is a little hard to explain yes and we are in the new ep's now ... the good doctor (jack) with Kate hav escaped now and are torn between going back to save their friends or staying "home" where they thought they would never be agian.. i hope this hepls a little... cos it is a fantastic show i watch it every week!!
