Question: I have just started watching this new show "The O.C" and i am a little confused as to what is the relationship between Ryan and seth's Parents. Is Ryan and seth step brothers? if so how? and can anyone please also tell me who is hailey? what is her relationship with seth's parents?. Also i wanted to know what is deal with Merissa's slutty mom?

Seth's parents (Sandy and Kirsten) took Ryan in after his mom abandoned him and he ended up back in jail. Hailey is Kirsten's sister. Julie (Marissa's mom) is a gold-digger who was even married to Kirsten's dad Caleb. She will eventually have to decide between love and money. She's slutty, but not too bad after the 2nd season. Also, seasons 1-3 were great and season 4 was good.
No, Ryan and Seth's parents have no relation. The dad was Ryan's lawyer and took him in. And Haley is the mom's sister (seth's aunt). And Marissa's mom is just a ****.
Oh, that is a long explanation. :) But to make a long story short, Ryan has estranged parents and Seth's parents kind of take care of him. Ryan lives in their pool house (must be nice, eh?) Seth and Ryan are just friends.
Ryan was taken in by them. They are just his guardians.
