Lenny Henry can't tell jokes - he is a joke. He is one of the most unfunny people on telly, of either sex and of any skin colour. There's no racism here folks because he would be just as unfunny if he were white.
There aren't a lot of black comedians on the telly although I can think of quite a few who are funny. Why they don't get the TV shows and sitcoms that white comedians get I don't know. I'm guessing it's because of a lack of black writers but I don't really know.
But Lenny Henry is a waste of space on the telly and he's taking up room that someone else could have use of. If he were that bothered he'd be out and about scouting up and down the country looking for black writers.
Lenny is just not funny.
It would be nice for there to be more good comedians on TV, full stop!

in a country with more whites than blacks there will obviously be less blacks on tv. why do people like him think people should get things handed to them without working for them just because of the colour of their skin?

Desmonds was better than anything Lenny Henry has ever done. Not since Tiswas has he done anything remotely worthy.

The reason why there aren't more black comedians on TV is not because people are racist, its either because there aren't many black comedians or the ones there are just aren't funny.
He's wrong and he does this sort of thing every now and then. It's cause he isn't funny and hasn't been since he was in Tiswas. It has nothing to do with his colour, just his material.
If a comedian or actor/actress is good they will do well on tv or films. There's are plenty of black talent out there. I think Lenny Henry is trying to play the race card and isn't that funny.

He is utterly correct. Whether or not the lack of ethnic minorities on our tv is due to lack of talent, that is irrelevant, the fact is they wouldn't get the chance here.
Seriously, look at Denzel Washington, Will Smith or Morgan Freeman (to name but a few), if they were British, how much of a chance would THEY get?
Edit: Yes these films do well here, but that's because the actors were given the chances they wouldn't if they from this country. You know where i'm coming from?

T.V. is aimed at everybody, ratings are for popularity, he may have been dropped from tv as he is a crap comedian and is having a racist dig in desperation to get back on t.v. thinking all the p.c. busybodies will raise hell and get him re-instated.
If he was as funny as Will Smith, Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock he'd be on t.v. all the time.
