I was a big fan of the books and when I watched the first episode I was very disappointed in how much it was different from the books. Now I see them on a different level and I love the show! I always liked Blair more than Serena in the in the books, but on the show Serena is such a sweetheart and I am rooting for her and Dan all the way. The storyline with Rufus and Lily caught me by surprise at first, as this was not in the book at all, but I really like them together. I hope something can happen with them but not ruin their kids' lives. Blair's mom Eleanor is very likable in the book, and I almost felt bad for the way Blair treated her and on the TV show it's quite the opposite--Eleanor is a total b***h.
The show surprises me every episode so I have no idea how the characters and plots will evolve but I do have a guess with one. I don't think we've seen the last of Vanessa. Whether it's her doing or not, I see her coming between Dan and Serena at least a few more times.
