Children's show on Nickelodean?!

Question: In the early to mid 90's, there was a children's show on Nick Jr that was about a train station. George Carlin and Ringo Starr were both conductors(not at the same time) and there was a lady that worked the ticket window(all I remember about her is that she always wore a sweater). I remember the conductors would be looking at their pockets watches and would go from "reality" to cartoon. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Thomas the Tank Engine.

It wasn't on Nickelodeon. It was on PBS. It was Shining Time Station.. & the one lady was Frenchie from the movie Grease

oh my i used to watch that all the time.....ummm shining time station

I'm pretty sure it was Thomas. Ringo and George Carlin both use to narrate the stories. My son's favorite movie right now is Thomas and the Magic Railroad. The ticket window lady wears a red sweater and Alec Baldwin is Mr. Conductor. The town is called Shining Time Station. I'm pretty sure this is the cartoon you're thinking of in movie format.
