Downloading free music?!

Question: Does anyone know if it's safe to use Linewire? They tell you to download something onto your computer, to be able to download the music. I'm always concerned with downloading stuff that might bring other stuff with it. Thanks for your help!

We7 allows you to download free MP3s with short (10 seconds or less) ads attached to the beginning of each file. It is completely legal as the artists are supported by the ads.

Jamendo allows you to download free MP3s from artists who have chosen to release their music under a Creative Commons license. It is completely legal as it is up to the artists what gets released there and what doesn't; they are supported by optional donations, as well as the fact that anyone who hears their music is a potential new fan who can then support them in other ways.

Finally, many artists just decide to release music for free through their own websites. I have a blog called Totally Free Music in which I highlight links to the best such sites I have found, as well as general resources such as We7 and Jamendo.

None of these sites require you to download anything to your computer - just whatever music you choose to download. Check out any or all of these sites, and enjoy what you find there. Happy listening!

you will DEFINITELY get spyware with that program. If you are in college or have a college e~mail I would recommend downloading ruckus. if you don't have a college e~mail I can't really help you

it is ssfe to download, but it slows your computer down. also; be careful when downloading the music off limewire, sometimes viruses come with the files. always check to see if the size of the files are about right

ya its fine. i've been useing it for a few yrs now and it im satisfied with it.

its limewire and i hope so thats what i use

Using Limewire to download music is illegal, so you're opening yourself up to a lawsuit or criminal charges. Also, Limewire is a peer to peer application. This means you're copying data from the hard drives of other people on the internet, so there's no way to verify exactly what you're downloading. You're also sharing your hard drive with potentially millions of other people on the internet, which makes you vulnerable.

I used it ...did'nt get spyware! But some of the songs are viruese..tale tale(look for the ones with the same amount of KBs or low kbs
