Does Oprah Winfrey always sound as deep South as she did when she was at a rally!
Question: Does Oprah Winfrey always sound as deep South as she did when she was at a rally for supporting Obama with his wife? I do not ever remember hearing her on any show or documentary sounding so deep south such that I am wondering about her sincerity or if she was just so emotional about it she let down her guard and became herself. Would she be so accepted on her shows if she spoke that way or does she think that speaking with that accent makes her seem like she has more in common with poor people even though she is rich. My opinion is we have war zones in inner cities where I lived that the blacks are suffering with no way out such that she needs to invest back here at home also in the inner cities not just in Africa. I ask you has she ever taken a child from the inner cities out like I have to her home for a week. I met Tiki when at USF's extension campus deep in the middle of crack town in St. Petersburg where I lived because I was so poor I was eligible for food stamps while

Oprah has a habit of adopting other people's accents. This usually happens more when she speaks with southern people, because after all she is southern herself, but living in Chicago for so long and no doubt the fact that she is a public figure on tv has affected her accent. It is certainly more neutral than when she started out and of course since she was younger. It's just a thing she does, I doubt she is even particularly aware of it.
I've been known to do the same thing around English people (my family has English roots) and my mother who was born in London, but has lived in the States for over 30 years will get her accent back in about half a second. It's a hard thing to explain. I believe Oprah is completely sincere it's just odd to hear sometimes.
i agree with da girl above me i gezz she adapts other pplz accents cuz i dont hear her speaking deep southern on her talk show
