I think they figured everyone would get back to work after the writers made their point. If it goes on much longer, they should worry about people finding other things to do then watch TV. Will they get all of their audience back?

they said the day the writer strike ends, the directors are going on strike. omfg just give their money haha they def have enough to give

They probably thought it whould because then the producing companys would lose money.
The last strike, in 1988, lasted 22 weeks. So they were probably prepared for it to go on that long or even longer. A strike is a weapon of last resort, and I doubt anyone took it lightly. They probably hoped it wouldn't last so long, but were prepared for it.
I wouldn't have thought it was going to go on this long myself! I wonder if it's really over?
