judging from the obituary, my theory is that, the man in the coffin is either LOCKE (lostpedia theories), Jacob himself, or some UNKNOWN character yet ..
JACOB is the man who gives Ben orders. that's the only thing we know about him. also, he can take the form of anything/anyone, like Walt, Christian Shephard, Dave (hurley's imaginary friend) etc ..

none of know who is in the coffin for sure yet. we all have our guesses. jacob is someone only ben can see and maybe locke heard once. he is the so called leader of the island even though we never have seen him yet.
