How can the American Idol judges audition 10,000 people in 2 days?!

Question: I must be missing something, but in the beginning of the show tonight I believe I heard Seacrest say that 10,000 people showed up in Miami and they all auditioned over 2 days....how is this possible?

I mean, let's say auditions are held for 12 hours one day and 13 hours the next (and I think that's being generous), 25 hours total. That's 400 people per hour or almost 7 per minute. Judging from the auditions I've seen on the show, that timeframe doesn't seem possible. How do they do it? Is there some sort of pre-screening that they don't show us? Or do they lie about the numbers of people auditioning? Maybe they work all day long?

If I recall correctly there are many other "pre-judges" that judge talent (or lack there of) and send them off to be judged by the "big three" so that's how it works. You stand in line, you see a pre-judge, if you are very good (or very bad) you get a number and are sent on to see the other three.

there are more than just three judges doing the judging. the three judges that you see only do a fraction of the 10,000. These judged get to see the very good and the very bad auditions.

I am guessing an advance crew shows up and pre-judges all of them. The top and very bottom make it through to the final show with the three judges. I think that Paula parties with the losers the night before. She seems to have been fu**ed up for every show for the last few seasons.

they don't. the producers audition everyone first, then by the second or 3rd day, they get through to the final 3 judges.

Their is a saying out their and its ANYONE CAN DO ANYTHING. Im saying that YES THEIR IS ONLY 3 Judges and like the ones that u see outside are all going to the BIG 3 and this is from my friend that participated. The show is from 6AM to 8PM non stop in SanDiego DAY 2 its 8 AM to 5PM so their it people i think
