Politics work between managers and basically to his employees. As mentioned earlier, we can’t really deny the fact that it really happens all throughout businesses establishments. It affects managers and subordinates in a way that subordinates can’t have now low respect to their manager especially if the said politicking is visibly known by them. This action can lead for the low production of subordinates and eventually they don’t have that much commitment already on their own respective jobs. Those then now are just some factors on how it affects team effectiveness. Thus, through those actions can also lead for the bankruptcy nor totally banishments of the company.

Ok here goes.

People have bosses. Bosses are mean to subordinates. Those subordinates are mean to their subordinates, and so on. People are nice to their bosses, in hopes of being promoted.Team effectiveness decreases as the number of bosses increases, due to diseconomies of scale. For example, my boss tells me to complete 10 inventory forms. I don't want to do it so I give it to my subordinate. He doesn't want to do it so he gives it to the janitor. The janitor writes some bullcrap answers down and hands it in. My boss doesn't know any better but to accept the numbers because he never comes down to the wharehouse to actually know what's going on. The company is spiraling into bankrupcy but everyone has a smile on their face. Everyone is unemployed within the month, so they find new jobs and the cycle repeats.

Your welcome.

Office politics are much like schools. Full of cliques and groups. Some are go-getters, some are slackers. Some work hard to achieve, and others just get by.

Office politics are usually based on a leader, a manager, followers, yes-men (or women), backstabbers, overacheivers and slackers.

There is little team effectiveness unless the groups begin to stop thinking about their own little fights or empires and begin to work with each other instead of constantly fighting for resources, attention or praise.

In my old life, there was a know-it-all, a deadbeat, an yes-man and a jerk. As long as everyone did their job, it personalities didn't matter. When someone screwed up, it would be free-for-all for praise and blame. Not pretty.

Office politics is another phrase for favoritism. Remember in high school when the cheerleader or football team player gets picked for everything, it works like that in the work force too. The prettiest or the classiest gets the perks. Office politics affects managers in the sense that they will tend to pick on the subordinate under him/her that may not project the image that another one will have and when someone gets favored all of the time, it makes the others not want to be team players, therefore affecting good teamwork.
