It's an awesome show, they have great characters that have a lot of history and great storylines that include drama and humor. Give it a try again.. You have to watch more than one episode to get the full effect. There are a few annoying characters. Maybe you watched when they were the focus..
gh is so great, they have great characters, great plot points, and they have unbelieveably hot men! dont be too quick to judge if you never even seen it!!! and gh is more about the mob than the hospital.
yeah er is good too, though i never could get into grey's.

Of course there are better hospital shows out there (like Grey's Anatomy) but General Hospital really isn't about the hospital. Actually, it's not about the hospital at all. It's a soap opera, take it at face value.

I have no idea of why GH is so popular but then I'm not a devotee so maybe it's just the longevity. People watching the characters as children.
Casualty is pretty good - it's on BBC America but I'm not sure what time.
ok so when i was nine years old my mother came to my school one day histericaly crying.... the pricipal came and got me out of my class and said " thyre seems to have been a death.. we can not reach your father" I walk to the office frantic over whoi it could be , couldnt be my dad could it?
I walk in and she comes over and says " they killed him ..they killed luke"

i went home that day saying that i will never watch soap operas ever...

GH's storylines rarely include the hospital, and when it does it's usually the drama in it. GH is the best soap ever, and if you're looking for good storylines, great acting, and HOT men you should watch. I have never seen a show w. so many fine men!!! If you're looking for true hospital shows, you should try ER, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice. On the lighter side of the hospital drama is Scrubs which is hilarious! So, I guess it just depends on what you're looking for, but General Hospital is great!!!!
I think the story of Luke and Laura boosted a lot of why GH is so popular. I have been watching the show since I was like 10. I love it, and I know it does not have a lot of hospital stuff going on, but when there is, there is a lot of drama going on with it. The actors are great, the characters stay interesting. It is just fun to watch.
Good hospital shows are : Scrubs, ER, Grey's Anatomy. Strong Medicine, House. Those will probably interest you.
it is the BEST daytime soap in the usa. non of the other shows come close and i watch 5 out of 7 of them from all the networks. it has better sl's and characters dev. it is more gripping. and the fans love their gh couples going back decades and they remain loyal cuz of the good story telling.
My mom used to watch GH so I got sucked in. I liked it better than other soaps. I don't watch soaps at all now, except Nip/Tuck. I'm addicted to that show. Julian is so hot. Dylan isn't bad either.
With GH, I liked the actors. Robert/Katherine, Luke/Laura, Ricky Martin was on the show as was Vanessa Marcil.
its just one of those things. maybe it falls at a time when they can watch it. i get home at 3 just in time to watch it. I don't understand why people watch AMC or ONTL or GL or Days. i guess it is just what you prefer, or what their mom's and grandmas watched, mine again happened to watch GH. its all circumstance.
I love GH, however it isn't based solely on the hospital. If you want to watch hospital shows check out Grey's Anatomy or ER.
It can be annoying at times, but that is the case for all soaps. DOOL is just about the most annoying sopa out there. Their storylines literally last for years instead of a month or two like on GH.
I like watching G.H. I have been watching that show for almost 30 years. My mom starting watching it when i was a little girl. And that is how i got hooked on it. I has been great show for many years. And there is not another show like it. It has drama, comedy, action - all rolled up it one show. And it has great characters too.
