I was a heroin and crack addict for nearly ten years. I have been clean for four years now. This is a show that puts the horrors of this lifestyle in perspective. Unfortunately, most of the people who have received interventions from this show, will use drugs again. As in my case, and in many others, an addict simply will not stop until they want to because they've had enough. Many times during those dark years i said to myself "I will never ever stop using these drugs" I said it with fear, guilt, and ironically, confidence. I truly believed it. But, one day, I woke up and knew it was over. I had had enough, and gave it all up on the spot and never looked back, I simply didn't enjoy a single aspect of the drugs anymore. As long as an addict gets some sort of enjoyment from these drugs, its almost impossible to stop. As for some of the enabling comment, In some cases on the show intervention.... The family gives money long enough just to get them to the intervention... But in most the addict is so deceptive, that the family truly believes that the money is being used for good.

I love it also, but I hate the enablers.
That p---- s me off so bad. They claim they want them to get better yet they're giving them money, booze, etc. UGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Yeah, the enablers can be very oblivious to their assisting those with problems. It is a very good show though, although I'm at the point where I try to guess whether they suceed or not, and can usually be pretty accurate.
I hate the fake one's, there were a few attention whores who just wanted to be on tv & didn't really have major problems (There was a girl, Annie I think, who claimed she had bulemia, looked real fake). I love the one's, especially the girls, who totally turn their life around.
Sometimes I think I'm facinated by seeing someone indulge themselves to the point of self destruction..The recent episode they had where the guy was hooked on the cough medicine(DXM)..Totally blew me away to see someone take 15-20 cold tablets was just unbelievable, then to show you the affects...it should be enough to make kids not do it..
YES!! I love that show! New episode tonight, can't wait! I don't know what it is about watching someone have an addiction that is so entertaining...it is kinda sick LOL! I know what you mean about it making you not even want a sip of alcohol!!
