Simpson- they have been around longer so the fan base spans a couple of gererations that grew up watching that show. Also having the movie helps with popularity.
I think overall The Simpsons have more fans because they have been on around 20 years. Not as many viewers tune in though as they do for Family Guy. I think a lot of people still "like" the Simpsons, but don't watch anymore because it's all the same.

Simpsons, but Family guy is way better. Simpsons have more fans, just cuz they r older and people kept on saying that Family guy is just a copy of Simpsons!! But let me tel u something, Family guy copied alot, but they are way f*king Better than Simpsons!!!
the simpsons was new and great back in the late 1980s and into the 1990s. When Family guy came around in 1999 people weren't ready for it. The Simpsons shocked people back then. And at the turn of the millenium, Family Guy shocked a new generation of people. When they cancelled Family Guy I was disappointed because it was a great show. And when they brought it back I was Happy.
