For me it's a toss-up between "Yesterday's Enterprise" (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and "A Leap for Lisa" (Quantum Leap). Both were very dramatic episodes that stretched the limits of the premises of their respective shows. In "Yesterday's Enterprise", an older Enterprise slipped through a rift in time, changing history, and only Guinan knew that something was wrong with the timeline. In "A Leap for Lisa", Sam took on the identity of his good friend Al as a young recruit on trial for murder.
Every episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia ever made. That show is amazing.
Seriously though, I'd have to say "Last Exit To Springfield" is my favorite episode ever of any show. It's the Simpsons episode where the power plant workers go on strike and hire Homer as their union president. Classic. The references are so clever and the storyline of Lisa's braces... wow. "The Big Book of British Smiles" HILARIOUS!!!
I watch a lot of TV, so it was really hard, I have a couple, first was the season finally for the first season of West Wing, and the second season opener. this is the one where assassination attempt is made, and Josh and the President get shot.
My second one is the season finally for the first season of ghost whisper. I cant believe that they killed of one of the main characters in the first season. I mostly like it because I didn't see it coming, and I usually do.
There have been so many quality programs. The pilot episode of "LA Law" was tremendous. For comedy, the episode of "The Odd Couple" where Oscar tries to be nice to Felix and ends up sleep walking and hitting Felix on the head with a newspaper is hilarious. I could think of some more, but I'd take up too much space here. Great question...
