You must be watching the repeats on Soap Network since these one's just aired last week. Anyways, Kimberly's mother told everyone she was dead even though she was in a coma. She came back basically for revenge on Michael for cheating on her with Sydney and then she basically wanted Sydney to help her kill Michael and instead she ran him over with her car and framed Sydney for it. That's where it ended last week so if you watch from now you should be caught up.
i dont know yow ive been thinking the same thing too like how is it possible that she came back so sudden without nobody knowing
Her mom only SAID she was dead most likely out of anger and probably to get Michael in even more trouble.

Maybe Kimberley's mom was just saying she was dead to her because of how much she'd changed following brain surgery.

Kimberly faked her death because she was angry that Michael was in love with Amanda and wanted him to pay. Remember she kidnaps him and locks him up in a nutty hospital. She tries to kill him but Amanda and Peter save him along with the help of a nurse that was played by Priscilla Presley aka Mrs. Elvis Presley.
She faked her death so she could plot revenge on everyone.
